Milo Yiannopoulos, a 41-year-old British political commentator and former Breitbart News editor, has been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). According to federal records, he is currently being held in Louisiana while awaiting deportation.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that Yiannopoulos arrived in the United States in May 2019 and subsequently overstayed his legal authorization. Officials noted that an immigration judge issued a final removal order on July 22 after Yiannopoulos failed to appear for a scheduled hearing. He was taken into custody on August 27 upon his arrival at an airport in New Orleans.

A DHS spokesperson described Yiannopoulos as an "illegal alien from the United Kingdom" and stated that his detention is a result of his own choices, while urging others in the country illegally to "self-deport now."

Yiannopoulos, who previously gained notoriety for his controversial views and association with the alt-right movement, has frequently expressed support for aggressive immigration enforcement, including calling for mass deportations. His career has been marked by significant public backlash, including his 2017 resignation from Breitbart following the emergence of comments that appeared to condone pedophilia—allegations he denied.

Neither Yiannopoulos nor the British embassy in Washington have provided comments regarding the situation.
