A decades-old Mars Bar has surfaced during a property clearance in Scunthorpe, England, drawing widespread online attention and reigniting conversations about product size reductions.

The chocolate bar, marked with a best-before date of 1991, weighs 62.5 grams—significantly larger than the current 40-gram version. Victoria Gordon, who runs the cleaning service Pocket Rockets, discovered the item while clearing a hoarder's home and shared a photo on social media showing the vintage bar next to a modern one.

Gordon told BBC Radio Lincolnshire that the bar's size immediately caught her eye. "It was nearly as big as my hand, which was kind of why I noticed it," she said. "We were clearing out a hoarder's house and everything we were rooting through was decades old."

Mars Bars are produced by Mars, Incorporated, a U.S. company founded in 1883 by Frank C. Mars. The brand was first made by hand in Slough, Berkshire, in 1932 and continues to be manufactured there. The company also owns other chocolate brands such as Galaxy, M&Ms, and Maltesers, as well as non-chocolate products like Pedigree and Whiskas.

In response to the viral post, a Mars spokesperson said: "Over the last 35 years, we have made a number of updates to our bar sizes and pack formats to reflect consumer demand, alongside considering wider external factors such as manufacturing costs and the price of cocoa."

Gordon, who regularly posts hoarding-related videos, said she has never seen such a strong reaction. "I do post some hoarding videos but I've never had anything go this viral," she noted. "It's so fascinating what people find so interesting. I almost put it in the skip [but] I might do a UK tour with it."
