Andrew and Tristan Tate have been arrested by US authorities following the announcement of new criminal charges filed against them in the United Kingdom. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has leveled additional allegations against the brothers, who hold dual British-US citizenship, related to offenses reportedly occurring between 2010 and 2017.
Andrew Tate faces seven new counts of rape, alongside charges involving sex trafficking and child pornography. Tristan Tate has been charged with two counts of rape, one count of sexual assault, and three counts of arranging or facilitating sexual exploitation. According to Malcolm McHaffie of the CPS, these charges stem from a new evidence file provided by Bedfordshire Police and bring the total number of alleged victims in the case to seven.
The US Marshals confirmed the brothers are in custody, with the Department of Justice noting the arrests were made to facilitate extradition proceedings. The Tate brothers have consistently denied all allegations of wrongdoing.
Joseph McBride, a lawyer representing the brothers, dismissed the new charges as "filth and slander." He argued that the legal actions were intended to undermine defamation claims previously filed by the Tates in the US. "America does not do Britain's political dirty work," McBride stated, expressing confidence that the brothers would be cleared once the facts are reviewed by a judge.
This development follows a series of legal challenges for the brothers, who are also under investigation in Romania. In 2024, Bedfordshire Police obtained European arrest warrants for the pair, and in May 2025, prosecutors outlined a separate list of 21 charges the brothers are expected to face in the UK regarding alleged offenses between 2012 and 2016.
