NASA astronaut Chris Williams is scheduled to provide a detailed account of his recent eight-month mission to the International Space Station during a press conference on Tuesday, August 4. The event will take place at 2:45 p.m. EDT at the agency's Johnson Space Center in Houston and will be broadcast live via NASA's digital platforms.
Williams concluded his inaugural spaceflight on July 26, having spent 241 days in orbit as a flight engineer for Expeditions 73 and 74. Alongside Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergei Mikaev, Williams traveled more than 102 million miles and completed 3,856 orbits of the Earth. The crew's tenure included overseeing the arrival and departure of 14 visiting spacecraft.
During his time in space, Williams contributed to various scientific and technological projects, including research into cancer treatments and the manufacturing of advanced materials for electronics. Additionally, he conducted two spacewalks, which involved preparing the station for power system upgrades and repairing a component on the Canadarm2 robotic arm. These efforts are part of NASA's broader initiative to improve life on Earth and support future exploration of the Moon and Mars.
Media representatives wishing to attend the briefing in person must notify the Johnson Space Center newsroom by July 31. Those planning to participate via telephone are required to contact the newsroom at least two hours before the event begins.
