The Cambodian government has formally entered into a partnership with 28 other countries to establish the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organisation (WAICO). Minister of Post and Telecommunications Chea Vandeth finalized the agreement on July 16 during a signing ceremony held in Shanghai.
The event, which included the participation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and delegates from various international organizations such as the United Nations, marked the official launch of the body. Based in Shanghai, WAICO is designed to promote the development of artificial intelligence that is safe, equitable, and responsible.
By participating in this alliance, Cambodia aims to bolster its national digital transformation strategy and deepen its cooperation with other nations regarding emerging technologies. The organization intends to facilitate cross-border collaboration to support AI innovations that contribute to sustainable development and global welfare.
