Senior government officials in Cambodia met in Phnom Penh on August 10 to review a draft law designed to reinforce the country’s legal response to illegal gambling.
The meeting was co-chaired by Keng Somarith, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice, and Bun Hon, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Interior. Yeth Vinel, Secretary General of the Commercial Gambling Management Commission of Cambodia, also took part in the session.
Discussions centered on the structure and content of the draft law, especially its penal provisions, with the aim of ensuring consistency with the Law on the Management of Commercial Gambling. Participants included representatives from the Anti-Corruption Unit, the General Commissariat of National Police, and department directors and specialized officials from the General Secretariat of the Commercial Gambling Management Commission.
The review is part of broader efforts by the government to strengthen action against illegal gambling and improve coordination among relevant authorities.
