Khim Finan, Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, recently co-chaired a review meeting alongside World Bank Task Team Leader for Cambodia, Chamroeun Muthita. The session served as the conclusion to the initial implementation support mission for the Cambodia Inclusive Livestock Value Chain Project (CILVCP).
The five-year initiative, which runs through 2029, is managed by the General Directorate of Animal Health and Production. With financial backing from the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program and the World Bank, the project is designed to assist 30,000 smallholder farming households, specifically targeting vulnerable families in Battambang, Kampong Speu, and Tboung Khmum provinces.
Key objectives of the program include the promotion of climate-smart agricultural techniques, improved access to animal health services, and better integration into high-value markets. By enhancing production systems, the project aims to improve rural food security and increase the availability of affordable protein sources.
The wrap-up meeting allowed stakeholders to evaluate early progress and establish strategic priorities for the next stages of the project. This effort aligns with Cambodia's broader agricultural modernization goals, focusing on sustainable growth and economic resilience for rural communities.
