Svay Nakry, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, represented Cambodia at the 2026 China (Guangdong)-ASEAN Conference held in Guangzhou from July 15 to 17. The event brought together approximately 1,200 participants, including representatives from the ASEAN bloc and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, to discuss regional economic connectivity.
Led by Guangdong Governor Meng Fanli, the summit focused on enhancing cross-border investment and strengthening supply chain networks. A significant portion of the dialogue was dedicated to the new energy sector, where Nakry emphasized Cambodia's interest in leveraging Guangdong’s technical capabilities to advance its own manufacturing and industrial goals.
The conference underscored Guangdong's position as a vital hub for ASEAN trade, with stakeholders examining strategies to improve logistics and industrial synergy. For Cambodia, the mission aligns with broader government efforts to modernize its industrial sector and diversify trade partnerships to remain competitive in the regional market.
