Cambodia's Ministry of Tourism has officially moved the dates for the "Green Season Tourism Event 2026." The three-day gathering is now set to take place from August 7 to 9 at Techo-Thipadei Square, located across from the Stung Treng Provincial Hall.
Tourism Minister Huot Hak and Stung Treng Provincial Governor Sor Soputra are scheduled to preside over the event. The program begins on August 7 with an opening ceremony, followed by a cultural and tourism exhibition on August 8. The final day, August 9, will feature a public fun run titled "Run for Mekong River Dolphins: Connecting Tourism during the Green Season," concluding with an official closing ceremony.
The initiative serves as a cornerstone of the "Visit Cambodia During Green Season 2026" campaign. By highlighting the northeastern region, the government aims to stimulate local economic growth, generate employment, and create new income streams for tourism-dependent communities. The event will also host a forum focused on the ecotourism potential of the northeast, alongside displays of regional cuisine, wild fruits, and community-made products.
Officials stated that the event aligns with broader national strategies to distribute tourism traffic more evenly across the country throughout the year, specifically encouraging travel during the May to October green season.
