Cambodian government officials recently participated in an international training program held in China’s Guangxi region, aimed at enhancing artificial intelligence (AI) expertise and fostering regional technological cooperation. The initiative, titled “AI+ Industrial Talents for ASEAN,” brought together researchers, technology experts, and private sector representatives from across Southeast Asia.
Supported by the Chinese government, the program provided participants with insights into China’s AI policies, technological advancements, and industrial ecosystems. The curriculum included workshops on AI implementation, site visits, and discussions regarding the application of AI in sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, digital services, and infrastructure.
Mo Bingyun, second secretary of the Guangxi Department of Science and Technology, stated that the program is designed to strengthen the partnership between China and ASEAN in the field of artificial intelligence. The Guangxi ASEAN Technology Transfer Center facilitated the event, serving as a key hub for cross-border scientific and technological collaboration.
For Cambodia, the training aligns with national efforts to bolster digital human resources and research capabilities. Hul Seangheng, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, emphasized the strategic importance of the technology, noting that AI serves as a vital driver for industrial transformation. “AI is a key driver for industrial transformation, which can help the industrial sector increase productivity, strengthen competitiveness, and create high-value-added products and services,” he stated, adding that it supports Cambodia’s goal of reaching high-income status.
