China Railway Construction Corp. (CRCC) is looking to broaden its investment portfolio in Cambodia, with a strategic focus on renewable energy, digital infrastructure, and transportation systems. The state-owned enterprise, which has maintained a presence in the country since 2008, outlined these expansion goals during a meeting between CRCC Chairman Dai Hegen and Prime Minister Hun Manet in Beijing on July 15.

Reflecting on the company's history in the region, Dai noted several completed infrastructure projects, including the Cambodia-China Friendship Thbong Khmum Hospital, the Cambodia Sports Village, the Ministry of National Defence building, and the Battambang water supply system. He credited the Cambodian government’s ongoing support for the firm's successful track record in the country.

In response to the proposal, Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed that developing transport infrastructure is a primary objective for his administration. While acknowledging the advancements made in road and waterway networks over the last 20 years, the Prime Minister highlighted that the modernization of national railway services is now a key focus. He urged the company to collaborate closely with relevant Cambodian ministries to move these potential investments toward implementation.
