Izaia Perese is set to rejoin the Queensland Reds on a two-year deal following the conclusion of his tenure with the English club Leicester. The 29-year-old centre, who previously played for the Reds between 2016 and 2018 before a short transition to rugby league, expressed enthusiasm about returning to his home state.
Having earned seven test caps for Australia, with his most recent appearance occurring during the 2023 World Cup, Perese is focused on regaining his place in the national setup. Under the guidance of Les Kiss, he hopes to secure a position in the Wallabies squad for the upcoming World Cup.
Perese acknowledged that while representing his country remains his ultimate objective, his immediate priority is performing consistently for Queensland. His return comes at a time when the Wallabies are evaluating their options in the outside centre position.
