Recent leaks suggest that Google plans to return to using flagship-grade silicon for its upcoming Pixel 11a smartphone. While the Pixel 10a utilized the older Tensor G4 processor, the Pixel 11a is expected to feature the Tensor G6, aligning the budget-friendly device more closely with the company's premium hardware strategy.
A significant component of the rumored Tensor G6 is the inclusion of a MediaTek M90 modem. This shift away from Samsung’s Exynos modems is intended to address long-standing user concerns regarding signal stability and excessive battery consumption. Although the chip is anticipated to retain the PowerVR DXT-48-1536 GPU found in the G5, it is still expected to offer performance gains over the Mali-G715 used in previous models.
Hardware specifications indicate that while the battery capacity may decrease slightly to 4,870mAh, the increased efficiency of the new processor is projected to maintain or enhance overall battery life. Additionally, the device is expected to retain a 6.3-inch display with a variable 60Hz to 120Hz refresh rate, though peak brightness is slated to increase to 3,350 nits.
