Oslo Mayor Anne Lindboe has officially postponed her wedding ceremony following the death of King Harald V. The mayor was scheduled to marry her fiancé, Pål Sandvid, this past Friday, the same day the monarch passed away at the national hospital in Oslo.
A political adviser to the mayor confirmed the postponement, noting that a new date for the ceremony has not yet been determined. Lindboe, who announced her engagement in June after five years with Sandvid, paid tribute to the late King on social media, stating that it is difficult to envision Norway without him.
King Harald V, who reigned for 35 years, was widely regarded as a modernizing force within the monarchy. His death occurred just one day before what would have been his 58th wedding anniversary to Queen Sonja. Following his passing, his son ascended the throne as King Haakon VIII.
The loss of the monarch has prompted national mourning, with citizens leaving floral tributes at the Royal Palace. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre addressed the nation, expressing collective grief and gratitude for the King's service. International leaders, including King Charles III of the United Kingdom, also shared their condolences for the late monarch, who was a relative of the British royal family.
