A daytime ballistic missile strike targeting a drone technology exhibition near Kyiv has killed at least 10 people and left approximately 100 others injured. The event, which was attended by figures from the defense sector, has prompted an investigation by Ukrainian authorities into the security protocols and decision-making process that allowed the public gathering to take place.
Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuri Ihnat stated that three ballistic missiles were launched during the attack, with only one successfully intercepted. While initial concerns circulated regarding the safety of prominent defense figures Serhiy Beskrestnov and Lyuba Shypovych, both later confirmed they were unharmed. Russia’s Ministry of Defence acknowledged the strike, claiming the facility was used to demonstrate drones intended for targeting Russian territory.
The incident is part of a broader escalation in hostilities. In the eastern city of Sloviansk, five individuals were killed by Russian glide bombs, and two men were reported dead in Sumy. These strikes followed a series of Ukrainian operations, including a long-range attack on a manufacturing facility in the Russian city of Kirov and strikes on warehouses belonging to the retailer Wildberries.
Amid the ongoing conflict, President Zelensky is scheduled to travel to the United States next week for meetings, including a planned discussion with President Donald Trump. In other regional developments, Romanian authorities reported that an F-16 fighter jet was deployed to intercept a Russian drone that breached the country's airspace on Friday.
