A pirated copy of Spider-Man: Brand New Day was available on the social media platform X for more than seven hours, garnering over 5.9 million views and 143,000 likes before it was removed. While subsequent reposts of the film have appeared, Disney has been actively issuing takedown requests to mitigate the spread.
Despite the unauthorized distribution, the film is performing exceptionally well at the box office. It earned $72 million during its preview screenings this week, surpassing the $60 million record previously held by 2019's Avengers: Endgame. When combining preview earnings with opening day figures, the film has reached $168 million, placing it ahead of the $157.4 million benchmark set by Endgame at the same point in its release.
Sony has issued a conservative projection of $325 million for the film's opening performance. While Endgame eventually achieved a global opening weekend gross exceeding $1.2 billion and $350 million domestically, Brand New Day is currently positioned to challenge those historic figures.
