TikTok has launched an initial test of a new security feature designed to help creators identify and manage unauthorized AI-generated content. The tool, currently available to a limited group of U.S.-based creators, scans the platform for AI likenesses that may be impersonating them.

To utilize the feature, participants must undergo an identity verification process managed by the third-party service Jumio. This requires users to perform a real-time selfie scan and submit identification documents. According to TikTok spokesperson Zachary Kizer, the company does not store these ID documents, and facial data is processed exclusively for the purpose of matching likenesses to detect potential misuse.

Once the verification is complete, the platform’s automated systems scan for content that may feature the creator's likeness. Creators are then provided with the ability to review these findings and report any posts or accounts they believe are unauthorized. This initiative follows similar efforts by other platforms, such as YouTube, which recently expanded its own likeness-detection capabilities to all adult users.
