The Republic of Turkey is scheduled to formally join the Artemis Accords on Monday, August 31. The signing ceremony will take place at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C., at 2:30 p.m. EDT, marking the country's status as the 71st signatory to the agreement.
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman is expected to preside over the event alongside Mehmet Fatih Kacır, the Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology. Representatives from the U.S. Department of State will also be in attendance to commemorate the partnership.
The Artemis Accords were established in 2020 by the United States and seven founding nations to address the increasing activity of both public and private entities in space. The framework provides a set of guidelines intended to foster safe, transparent, and collaborative exploration of the Moon, Mars, and other deep-space destinations.
