Ukrainian forces conducted a series of overnight strikes deep within Russian territory, targeting key infrastructure including an oil refinery, an oil depot, a drone launch site, and the Engels airfield. President Volodymyr Zelensky characterized these operations as “long-range sanctions” aimed at facilities that support Moscow’s military efforts. The Engels airfield, a primary base for Russia's Tu-95MC and Tu-160 strategic bombers, reportedly caught fire following the attack.
Russian officials confirmed the strikes, reporting eight total fatalities across the Saratov, Udmurtia, and Belgorod regions. Additionally, Moscow claimed to have intercepted 635 drones. Among the targets hit was a warehouse belonging to Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, which regional Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev condemned as a “terrorist act.” Ukraine has frequently targeted Wildberries logistics hubs, alleging they supply the Russian military with equipment and drone components.
Simultaneously, Russia launched its own offensive, striking two Ukrainian ports and two vessels in the Black Sea. Further attacks were reported near Kharkiv, where a strike on a postal terminal resulted in one death. Both sides have recently escalated efforts to disrupt logistics and energy infrastructure, including attacks on Ukrainian retail and postal facilities such as Nova Poshta and Rozetka, as the front line remains largely unchanged.
