A series of Ukrainian drone strikes targeting facilities owned by the Russian retail giant Wildberries has resulted in eight fatalities and 62 injuries. The attacks, which occurred overnight, hit warehouses in the Tambov region and Elektrostal, located in the Moscow area.
According to regional officials, the Tambov site recorded seven deaths and 25 injuries, while the Elektrostal facility reported one death and 37 injuries. Russian authorities noted that emergency services were deployed to manage the aftermath, with several of the injured reported to be in serious condition due to shrapnel wounds.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the operations targeted logistics centers allegedly involved in supplying components for drone production and navigation equipment. He described the strikes as a response to ongoing Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. Beyond the warehouses, Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine also targeted an oil facility, while Russian officials reported that falling drone debris struck an oil depot in the Moscow region.
Security analysts suggest the strikes aim to disrupt the supply of dual-use goods to the Russian military. Serhii Kuzan, chairman of the Ukrainian Security and Cooperation Centre, noted that Wildberries serves as a critical logistics link, with its platform reportedly used to procure military-grade equipment. Wildberries CEO Tatyana Kim described the event as a "terrible night" for the company and the country.
The strikes are part of a broader trend of intensified long-range drone operations by Ukraine against Russian energy and logistics infrastructure. While Russia has reported shooting down dozens of drones during these engagements, the impact on the Russian economy and domestic fuel supply remains a point of significant concern for Moscow.
