Military personnel from Vietnam’s Team K92 have concluded a recovery mission in Cambodia’s Kep Province, successfully locating the remains of 12 soldiers and experts who died during wartime. The operation, conducted throughout the 2025–2026 dry season, involved the excavation of 14 separate sites despite difficult geographical conditions and limited historical data.
This latest mission contributes to a long-standing humanitarian initiative that has resulted in the recovery of 91 fallen Vietnamese personnel in the province since 2001. Beyond their search efforts, the task force engaged in community outreach by distributing aid to local families and providing medical assistance, a move provincial officials credited with fostering stronger ties between the team and the residents of Kep.
The repatriation was finalized through a formal protocol signed by representatives from both nations. Officials from Vietnam and Cambodia emphasized that the ongoing search for missing personnel remains a diplomatic priority, serving as a symbol of the continued solidarity and cooperation between the two countries.
