London Gatwick Airport has reported that water supplies have been restored to the majority of its facilities following a significant outage on Sunday. The disruption, which affected both terminals, was triggered by a power failure at the Bough Beech treatment works, according to SES Water.

During the outage, passengers faced substantial inconvenience as restaurants and bars were forced to close, leading to limited seating and long queues for operational restrooms. Travelers reported frustration over a perceived lack of communication and poor sanitary conditions in toilets that remained open without running water. While the airport deployed staff to distribute bottled water and assist passengers, some travelers expressed dissatisfaction with the management of the situation.

SES Water stated that the power issue was complex, requiring time for the network to stabilize even after the treatment plant resumed operations. The utility company also noted that the outage impacted several surrounding areas in Kent and Surrey.

Despite the facility closures, Gatwick Airport confirmed that no flights were canceled due to the water issues, though some airlines, such as EasyJet, adjusted bag drop procedures to manage the flow of passengers. The airport has been working with the water supplier to minimize further impact and reopen all facilities safely.
