In July 2020, Comet C/2020 F3, widely referred to as the Great Comet of 2020, provided a rare opportunity for skywatchers to view a comet with the naked eye. Captured in a time-lapse sequence on July 8, 2020, the celestial object was documented rising over the Adriatic Sea in Italy.
The visual record, which consists of more than 240 individual frames taken over a 30-minute window, shows the comet ascending against a backdrop of distant stars and illuminated noctilucent clouds. This specific comet was notable for maintaining significant brightness for more than a month. Scientific observations determined that the comet's nucleus measured approximately five kilometers in diameter, serving as the source for its distinct ion and dust tails.
