The Artemis Accords were established in 2020 by the United States and seven founding nations to provide a set of practical principles for civil space exploration. The framework is designed to promote safety, transparency, and coordination for activities conducted on the Moon, Mars, and in deep space, addressing the increasing involvement of both government and private entities in lunar missions.
