The crew of NASA’s Artemis II mission is set to appear at the University of Houston’s Fertitta Center on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. CDT. This public event marks the final engagement of the crew's post-flight campaign following their journey around the Moon earlier this year.
Astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch of NASA, alongside Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen, will discuss highlights from their time aboard the Orion spacecraft. During the event, the National Aeronautic Association will formally recognize the crew for establishing a new record for the farthest distance traveled by humans in space, surpassing the 1970 Apollo 13 mission milestone.
The Artemis II mission, which launched on April 1 and concluded with a Pacific Ocean splashdown on April 10, saw the crew travel 252,756 miles from Earth. The flight served as the inaugural crewed mission for NASA’s Space Launch System rocket.
Members of the public can attend the event for free, though tickets must be secured online in advance. Media representatives are invited to a separate question-and-answer session at 5:45 p.m. and must RSVP to NASA’s Kenna Pell by noon on the day of the event.
