NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center has scheduled an International Observe the Moon Night event for Saturday, September 19, at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The event, which runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. CST, aims to explore lunar science, the history of space exploration, and the Moon's cultural significance.
Attendees can participate in various activities, including STEM-focused workshops, a science stage show, and guided celestial viewing sessions hosted by the Von Braun Astronomical Society. The program will also feature appearances by Janet Ivey, known for the children's series “Janet’s Planet,” and presentations from NASA experts regarding lunar research and the Artemis II mission.
The event is organized by the Planetary Missions Program Office at NASA Marshall. Media representatives wishing to cover the proceedings are required to register with Joel Wallace at the Marshall newsroom by 3 p.m. on Friday, September 18. Accredited media will have access to interview opportunities and designated areas for capturing event visuals at the Davidson Center.
