NASA has officially incorporated Blue Origin’s New Glenn 9x4 launch service into its Launch Services (NLS) II contract. This addition was made possible through an on-ramp clause, which allows the agency to integrate new launch providers and vehicles into its existing portfolio.
The NLS II framework functions as a series of indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contracts. The current agreement remains active for ordering through June 2030, with a total performance period extending until December 2032. The contract's annual on-ramp provision ensures that NASA can maintain competitive options by allowing new entrants to bid for upcoming missions.
Managed by the Launch Services Program Office at Kennedy Space Center, these contracts facilitate a variety of agency initiatives, including those led by the Science, Human Spaceflight, and Research and Technology mission directorates. Furthermore, the program allows NASA to coordinate launch services for other federal entities, such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
