NASA has officially incorporated Relativity Space Inc. and its Terran R launch vehicle into the Launch Services (NLS) II contract. This addition was facilitated through the contract's established on-ramp provision, which allows for the periodic inclusion of new service providers and updated launch technology.
The NLS II framework operates as a series of indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contracts. The current ordering period for these agreements is scheduled to run through June 2030, with a total performance window extending until December 2032. The on-ramp mechanism is designed to ensure that NASA maintains access to competitive launch options by allowing providers to bid for future missions annually.
These contracts are managed by the Launch Services Program Office at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The services provided under this agreement support various agency initiatives, including the Science Mission Directorate, the Research and Technology Mission Directorate, and the Human Spaceflight Mission Directorate. Furthermore, the contract allows NASA to extend launch services to other federal entities, such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
